Navilla Burns, euphonium

Navilla Burns is a professional euphonium player  and educator based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education from Florida State University, and Master’s degree in Euphonium Performance from Carnegie Mellon University. As a performer, Navilla has been part of the Florida State University Tuba/Euphonium Quartet, which placed first in the quartet competition at the Southeast Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference in 2017. Since moving to Pittsburgh, she has performed with the River City Brass Band, under the direction of Dr. James Gourlay, as the second baritone for their 2019 concert series. She has performed in world premieres for euphonium repertoire as well, including John Dewey’s “Synthetic Sadness” for euphonium quartet. Navilla is also a founding member of the Power Ensemble, a femme-led brass group dedicated to advocating gender and racial diversity in the brass profession.
