Jay Julio, viola

First-generation Filipino-American violist Jay Julio hails from Uniondale, NY, and has been a prizewinner in competitions held by the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Music Teachers National Association, and the YoungArts Foundation, as well as recipient of grants from the Virtu Foundation, FilAm Music Foundation, and AVS. Jay has appeared on Interlochen Public Radio, WKCR, and SiriusXM, and has been invited to the Spoleto, Aspen, Lake Tahoe, and Yellow Barn (YAP) music festivals, as well as the Music Academy of the West. Jay completed a Master of Music at the Juilliard School as a Susan W. Rose and Music Advancement Program Teaching Fellow, studying with Heidi Castleman, Misha Amory, and Matthew Lipman. They graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy under the tutelage of Renee Skerik and entered the Manhattan School of Music at sixteen, studying with Karen Ritscher. Jay is an incoming 2020-2023 LA Orchestra Fellow.
